Event organiser’s guide

Due to special circumstances, Helsinki Day will be celebrated online

Helsinki’s birthday will be celebrated once again on 12 June 2020. This year, the city’s Helsinki-kanava video service will work as a platform that streams selected events live from Oodi Central Library and Tiivistämö studio in Suvilahti.

On Helsinki Day, the city’s video service will also broadcast content that is recorded beforehand and made by the public. Event organisers can also stream live content via social media channels.

Create your own programme and apply for a grant
The City of Helsinki invites and encourages all local residents to come up with new and innovative ways to celebrate the city’s birthday, and to create a memorable programme for Helsinki Day.

The registration of events begins 3 March 2020. If you are applying for a production grant, make sure to submit your proposal by 15 April 2020. You can submit your proposal here. The form is only in Finnish. Register on the site and use your individual username to update your application and event information when needed.

A jury comprised of local residents will select grant recipients by 27 April 2020.
