Organize your event responsibly
Sort efficiently
• If waste is generated at the event, it must be sorted, and the amount of mixed waste minimized.
• If food or beverages are served or sold at the event, prioritize reusable tableware. If disposable tableware must be used, it should be biodegradable (EN13432 standard).
Save electricity and remain emission-free
• If possible, use only renewable electricity at the event.
• Conserve electricity by using energy-efficient appliances, lamps, and implementation methods.
Procure sustainably
• Avoid disposable items (e.g., serving utensils).
• Prefer certified products whenever possible.
• If needed, consider recycled materials, donations, surplus flowers, etc., for decorations.
• Favor rented or borrowed equipment for your event.
Serve plant-based, organic, and local food
• Arrange the catering to include vegetarian or vegan options whenever possible – there should always be at least one vegetarian option available.
• Prioritize organic and locally sourced food.
Consider marketing
• Utilize as much digital marketing as possible. There are several free online platforms, such as Canva, to support your design process.
• If you use printed materials or printed marketing, request carbon-neutral prints. For home printing, it is more eco-friendly to print dark text on a light background to save ink.
Encourage sustainable transportation
• Encourage visitors to arrive on foot, by bicycle, or via public transportation.
• Plan event-related transportation in a way that minimizes driving or facilitates carpooling.
Provide sustainable accommodation
• If you accommodate performers or your team, choose an environmentally certified lodging option.
Make the event accessible for everyone
• If possible, ensure that your event has an accessible and barrier-free entrance.
• As an organizer, commit to principles of equality, fairness, and non-discrimination at your event.
