Event Introduction

The ‘Laulu ottaa kantaa’ (‘Singing for Change’) network is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a picnic outside the Worker’s Museum. Jukka Takalo, Nanna Louhela, Alecsanteri, Miika Leivo, Mikko Perkoila and Uuna will be performing thought-provoking classics exploring themes such as biodiversity loss, appearance pressure, addiction and unemployment. There will also be discussion on the history and present day of political songs. In addition, the event marks the launch of Timo ‘Tipi’ Tuovinen’s new book, ‘Suomalainen työväenlaulu – Arkkiveisaajien ja mölyköörien aika’ (‘Finnish Workers’ Songs – Era of Arch-choristers and Casual Choirs’).
