Event Introduction

In the 18th century, various horrifying sea monsters, such as krakens or sea serpents, were a topic of conversation among the public and scientists alike. The workshop will offer an introduction to 18th century imagery and ideas about sea monsters, and attendees can draw a sea monster of their own. They can also visit the Suomenlinna Museum and the new Cellar of the Sea exhibition, which is about the Baltic Seas underwater ecosystem and cultural heritage. Places need to be booked in advance. The booking service will open on 5 June 2025.
