Event Introduction

On Helsinki Day, you can visit the Burgher’s Home, the oldest wooden residential building in central Helsinki, built in 1816. The house is open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. New research into the history of the house has revealed a lot of information that was previously unknown.

In the small chamber of the courtyard, you can take a look at a traditional 19th century handicraft technique, macrame, between noon and 3 p.m. Macrame is a decorative knotting technique that was very popular in its time.
