Helsinki Day in Siltamäki

Event Introduction

Siltamäen Nikkariverstaan ja Kankurituvan Ystävät ry (‘Friends of the Siltamäki Woodworking and Weaving Shop’) is celebrating Helsinki Day with live music, an art exhibition, a woodworking show and a history tour of the building and grounds. The café will be open, and our legendary pancake bar will be selling pancakes with home-made jam outside. The building, which started life as a poorhouse and subsequently housed Siltamäki Service Home, is a fascinating example of Helsinki’s architectural heritage and social history. The estate as a whole represents late-19th-century poorhouse construction and even has its own water tower.
