Helsinki Day Festival at the Kustaankartano Senior Centre

Event Introduction

Helsinki Day is a big day at the Kustaankartano Senior Centre in northern Helsinki. This year’s programme has been carefully designed to cater for people of all ages. The versatile programme includes, for example, a variety of music performances, circus arts and a bouncy castle. The event is free of charge, and everyone is welcome!

The Helsinki Day programme starts at 3.00 pm with music from Homoiskelmäorkesteri Harhavietti, a queer schlager orchestra, on the main stage. The ensemble is known for performing classics and forgotten gems. Next to take the stage is Riskiryhmä at 4.15 pm. The band plays 60s and 70s rock as well as original songs. The final performance on the main stage at 5.15 pm is an Elvis show, which has been popular at various events and concerts both in Finland and abroad.

A range of attractions is available in and around the Tram Square throughout the event from 3.00 to 6.00 pm. Performances include a show by the Pukinmäki Circus School. The Oulunkylä volunteer fire brigade is bringing its fleet of emergency vehicles, which guests are free of explore, along with a heritage tram from the 1950s. The guests also get to cuddle and pet a selection of friendly therapy dogs. An opportunity to try walking football is provided by Building D.

Food and drinks are being sold by the Helsinki Service Centre and Gnistan FC in the idyllic pondside area throughout the event. The multicultural café outside Building E also has a variety of tasty treats on offer. See you there!
