Event Introduction

At Kanneltalo, Helsinki Day is celebrated at Sitratori Square with a vibrant circus atmosphere!

Blind Gut Company’s circus performers and Red Nose Company’s clowns entertain visitors, face painting transforms festivalgoers into circus characters, and a flow arts workshop invites everyone to try new skills. A literary walking tour and the floral-themed Hupsansaa workshop bring colour and joy to the square. The musical highlight of the day is the interactive Back 2 the Future concert. The event also celebrates the newly greened oasis of Sitratori.

14.30–16.15 Experiment with Flow Art

Come flow with us! This workshop lets you experiment with different forms of flow art, such as hooping and poi spinning. Wear clothing suitable for light exercise. Implemented by Belenos studio, vannetanssi.fi

16.00–18.30 Hupsansaa Flower Buffet
Inside the lobby
The lush and colourful Flower Buffet is served! The fresh menu of the flower ‘bistro’ offers bright cut flowers, lush decorations and a sprinkle of sparkle. Delight yourself or your friends with beautiful real flower decor! The event always utilises seasonal flowers and surplus flowers based on availability. The workshop is hosted by Hupsansaa.

The youngest in the family will get fun circus looks. Implemented by Lilla-Millan Juhlat.

16.00–18.00 Huudeilla – In the ‘hood: Red Nose Company & FiBO – Finnish Baroque Orchestra
Indoors and outdoors
The clowns of the Red Nose Company will also be in the ‘hood, along with the regional musicians of the Finnish Baroque Orchestra, meeting with, delighting and surprising the visitors.

At the House of New Theatre (HNT) workshop, you’ll get to create your own unique Kannelmäki mask. HNT’s amazing students will lead fun and engaging improv games – everyone’s welcome! No previous acting experience needed.

Indoors on the café stage
In this carnival of live music, dance, song, storytelling, rapping and freestyle, the audience will have the chance to alter the flow of the concert and jump into the rhythm. The journey will start from 1970s New York, move to Chicago of the 1980s and to Paris in the turn of the millennium, ending up in the future!

At 17.00 and 19.00 (Light drizzle is not a problem. In case of heavy rain, the event will be held in the auditorium.)

Fun! Fun! Fun! performance by modern-day jesters! Visit the market stand for unforgettable circus experiences! You can choose from performances by professional entertainers or content that would be perfect for your own social media channels – and everything is a bargain, as the performers will pay the customers for their purchases!
