Event Introduction

Many aspects of Finnish culture, history and landscape are reflected in songs. The concert will be hosted in English, allowing guests who do not speak Finnish or Swedish to understand and enjoy the content and background to the music. Two musicians, singer Tia Svanberg and kantele player Marja Nevankallio, from the Opera Tellus collective will perform and tell the stories of some popular Finnish vintage songs from the 19th and 20th centuries. The entertaining open-air concert will be held in the atmospheric courtyard of the Burghers House Museum in the heart of old Helsinki.
