Announcement of this year’s Stadin Friidu and Stadin Kundi
Event Introduction
The local heritage association Stadin Slangi reveals the winners of the 2026 Stadin Friidu (‘Woman about Town’) and Stadin Kundi (‘Man about Town’) awards – the highest accolades that a resident of Helsinki can receive – on the Espa Stage on Helsinki Day. The programme also features a nostalgic performance by Antti Reini in Helsinki slang. Other performers include a mixed choir singing in Helsinki slang as well as Harri Saksala and Reijo Lainela. Editor-in-chief Seppo Palminen has prepared a talk on the 30-year history of the association’s magazine, Tsilari, and Professor Heikki Paunonen will be interviewed on the origins of the magazine. Mayor Daniel Sazonov will address the audience on behalf of the City of Helsinki.
